Australian Marine Conservation Society

The Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is a national, not-for-profit charity whose mission is to protect the health and vitality of Australia's coasts and oceans. AMCS is a consistent and persuasive voice on a wide range of marine issues throughout Australia including the declaration of marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries, recovery of threatened species and land-based pollution.

AMCS uses many strategies to achieve its campaign goals:

• We are "voices of the sea" on international, national and regionally focused advisory committees
• We actively persuade and lobby governments and politicians
• We organise and present at conferences and workshops
• We communicate our key messages to the broader community through the public media
• We actively support marine research that helps us better understand our oceans.
• We form partnerships with conservationists and other stakeholders from time-to-time to affect change.
