Kabaira Dive - Rabaul

Kabaira Dive is situated on the north coast side of Rabaul, an hour scenic drive from New Rabaul Airport, Tokua. With good clean accommodation for up to 8 divers and a separate Dining/Lounge house for relaxing in between dives and enjoying the home style meals with the natural sounds of the village and waves washing on the beach.

Dives are done from either land or boat, sometimes both. The boat used is a 23ft open banana boat with shade and an 85 hp engine. Dive equipment supplied is limited to 5 sets (BCD,Regulator,computer). Fins masks are on hand but adviseable to bring own gear for personal comfort.

Sites Visited:

Reef dives - Flat worms, nudibranchs, pelagics, sharks, schooling fish general marine life. Soft corals and hard corals, fans with pigmy sea horses.

Walls - endless drop offs with overhangs. Fans, barrel sponges, small corals

WW2 wreck dives - 120 feet mine laying boat encrusted with corals, mitsubishi bi-plane, Japanese zero with variety of scorpian fish, nudibranchs, shrimp.
