Drop Offs and Passages : Albatross Passage; Most certainly one of the world’s top ten Dives only 40 min boat ride from Kavieng. As the water moves into this narrow passage between New Ireland and Bodisson Island, it hits the wall running across the entrance and sets up the ideal current which attracts schooling Pelagic Fish and many resident Grey Reef, white Tip, and Silver Tip Sharks. Slowly moving along in front of this wall or hooked on with your reef hook (provided by Scuba Ventures) on the edge of the overhang at the end of your dive the opportunity is there to enjoy a close encounter. Often Schools of Barracuda will pass, with Giant Trevally and Blue Fin Trevally hunting close by. Pygmy Mantas can often be seen gliding past. The wall is overgrown with big gorgonian fans, soft coral bushes and black coral trees providing protected homes for pygmy seahorse, long nose hawk fish, shells and many brightly coloured nudibranchs. Where to look..? at the BIG Pelagic Fish or all the fantastic macro life. A number of dives can be done at this site each providing a new and memorable experience.

Fringing Island Reefs: Hard Coral Gardens, Macro Life.

Wrecks: World WarII Planes( Japanese and American) Deep “Pete” Mitsubishi F1M2 Biplane Lying upside down on a white sandy bottom at 40 metres, this exciting new plane wreck is a remarkable contrast to the other plane wrecks within the harbour. The visibility is seldom below 30m, schools of friendly batfish accompany divers, resident snappers, sweet lips, schooling barracuda and Trevally are often found here. The 2 cowl mounted 7mm guns which fire through the propeller arch are still in position. The mounted flexible gun which was operated from the rear cockpit lies in the sand with the drum magazine close by. An amazing dive for both wreck and fish enthusiasts.

Purposefully sank post World War II Wrecks like the famous Der Yang.

Fresh Water Caves and Sinkholes for those suitably experienced.
