Our 18-passenger liveaboard dive vessel M/V Nimrod Explorer has been exploring Australia's Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea since 1984.
From her base in Cairns and satellite departure point in Cooktown, the M/V Nimrod Explorer winds her way north along the Ribbon Reefs to the world renowned Cod Hole, farther north to Lockhart River, or out into the Coral Sea. Diving our way you don't waste a day with low-flying, chartered planes transferring guests to or from the vessel in Cooktown. Our planes take the scenic route and fly directly over the Black Montains and Great Barrier Reef. The M/V Nimrod Explorer offers regular 4 & 5 day Cod Hole/Ribbon Reef itineraries and 7 day Osprey Reef/Ribbon Reef itinerary. Special 8 day Far Northern Reef itineraries are scheduled for Oct/Nov only. The spacious M/V Nimrod Explorer accommodates guests in two double, one twin and three quad-share cabins, each with air-conditioning, portholes or windows and private facilites. Meals are varied and plentiful, prepared by our fully qualified chef.

The M/V Nimrod Explorer offers trips from 4 to 8 days along the Ribbon Reefs between Cairns and Lizard Island, the Cod Hole and even farther north, to the rarely visited northern reaches of the Great Barrier Reef approaching Papua New Guinea. 7-day Coral Sea trips depart every two weeks, and offer the chance to experience the large pelagics and awesome visibility of the Coral Sea's Osprey Reef, at certain times of the year, manta rays, rare dwarf minke whales and other large pelagics offer a variety of experiences befitting the world's largest barrier reef system.
