Shangrila Scuba Divers

Shangrila Scuba Divers is a beachfront PADI Dive Resort, located in Candidasa,on the east coast of Bali where dive sites are right at our door steps. We offer customised fun dives and PADI dive courses up to Divemaster level. Dive packages with airconditioned accommodation and transfers are available as well.

We conduct our courses and dives in small groups as we know it means we learn a lot more, see a lot more and it also allow us to give the attention required to our divers and students. We believe in having fun, being safe and making our guests feel great at the end of the trip.

Our equipments are maintained to the highest standards and our staff are just a fantastic bunch of local balinese.

The company was started by Graeme Birch from England, whose passion for diving since living in Bali spurred him to start his own operation in 2005. He now lives his hobby and continue to discover and share the amazing underwater world in Bali!

Sites Visited:

The greatest charm of Bali diving is its wide range and variety of dive sites. There are the shipwrecks, steep drop offs, sandy slopes, coral ridges and bommies, volcanic outdrops, roaring currents and quiet seagrass bays. All that with the colourful and diverse marine life (more than 2500!), no wonder divers keep coming back!

We have macro dive sites with black or white sandy bottoms that offer a variety of species : nudibranches, shrimps, harlequin ghostpipe fish, crocodile eel, ribbon eel, pigmy seahorses, mimic octopus. Dive site: Jepun, Puri Jati, Secret Bay

Wreck Dive: The USAT liberty Glo shipwreck at Tulamben is the most dived site in Bali. Mainly due to the 300 species of marine life that lives on and around the 120 metre shipwreck that has been lying there for over 40 years. You get to see schools of trevallies, sweetlips, a resident full size grouper, resident barracuda, different coloured anemones and clownfish, banded pipefish, pigmy seahorse, nudibranches. If you only have 1 day to dive out of your holiday, this could be an ideal spot (just 45 minutes drive from our shop. shore dives. wreck is only 40 metres from shore.)

Sharks anyone? Just off where we are are islands sticking out of the waters called Gili Mimpang & Tepekong. Both sites have such unpredictable currents (up or down currents too) which are the same reason that make the dive site so beautiful. One just does not know what to expect. These dive sites are more for the experienced diver. The corals are beautiful here and it's also the place where our white tip reef sharks reside. At times, it feels like you are watching national geograhic clip underwater! During the month of July to October, the Sunfish or Mola Mola visit these sites to be cleaned as well.

Wall dives - if you are of those after beautiful sea fans, soft corals, sponges and those tiny critters that live amongst them,do check out the walls at Tulamben (not far from the shipwreck), Amed and Menjangan Island and not forgetting Gili Biaha.

We dived at all sites in Bali. Just let us know what you like to see!
