APEX Environmental

APEX Environmental is an environmental organisation with extensive expertise in oceanic whale and dolphin surveys, cetacean ecology research, conservation management and training. One of our key areas of interest are the Indo-Pacific migratory corridors of east Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands - and the importance of these these narrow, yet deep passages by large migratory marine life, and in particular blue and sperm whales.

The Asia-Pacific Oceanic Cetacean Program aims to expand the existing knowledge of the Earth's most abundant yet least known marine ecosystem - the open ocean - and achieve alternative and minimal impact solutions for nature-based industries that are cost-effective and have long-term ecological and economical sustainability.

In addition to our work on marine mammals, we have also conducted and assisted with numerous regional marine conservation programs such as MPA Network development, national fisheries reviews, capacity building assessments and marine tourism development. Educational activities focus on tropical marine conservation issues in Australasia, with particular emphasis on. We are a member of the IUCN Species Survival Committee - Cetacean Specialist Group

Bali is a land famous for its lush green landscapes, endless sunny days and a bustling tourism industry in the south with many activities including surfing, cycling, trekking and rafting. Often overlooked though is the variety and quality of diving. From deep drift dives in search of pelagics to muck diving in the volcanic black sand looking for critters; Bali has it all!

The tropical seas from the shores of East Africa, the Red Sea, through to South East Asia and then eastward to Australia, the Solomons and extending to the islands of Hawaiian Islands is the worlds richest marine province.
