unknown egg cluster on SA reef..?

I went for a snorkel on Port Noarlunga reef yesterday (just South of Adelaide) and tooks some nice photos in the ambient light. One of the subjects I wasn't familiar with, I'm guessing it's eggs of some kind?

Check out the pic in my Panasonic LumixLife gallery, and see what you can make of it... it's the white ball-shaped subject, stuck to the reef wall. The cluster of 'eggs' was small, maybe 15-20cm in diameter for the cluster.

..and if you like what you see, click on the 'tick' in the bottom left... it sends me your vote for a 'peoples choice' accolade ;)

Hi Dan,

What you are seeing there is a cluster of colonial ascidians (sea squirts)

Do a search on this site and you will find loads of different species

\At first it seems like a very 'hippy' idea and really fits into our part of the world, as does the Dome Shell factory. However, on further investigation, the instigator, Shaun Waterford, seemed more down to earth than expected and I decided to take a look for myself.
