The team at Underwater Australasia has been selling and servicing underwater scooters for more than 20 years. During that time scooter models have come and gone. At the moment we sell more than 20 different seascooters/underwater scooters from 5 different brands.

So, how do you choose which water scooter to get? You can always give the team at Underwater Australasia a call, but have a read of this overview and inspect the table at the end of the article to make things easier for you.

The Nautica Wavemaker, the ultimate inflatable Jet Ski seascooter for pool fun!

First, it’s essential to consider who will be using the scooter. We’ll start by looking at its size and weight, which are key factors depending on the primary user. Is it for young children or adults? Should we factor in the user’s mobility and agility? Are you eligible for NDIS? Will you want to easily pack it in a bag, hop on a bike, and head to the lagoon, or will it mostly stay on the back of your boat or by the pool, ready for nearby use? Of course, budget is important too. Fortunately, the range at Underwater Australasia has something for everyone.

Another consideration might be the colour or the looks of the underwater scooter. So, have a read and then use the links to have a look at the seascooters on our site. Of course, you can always call or e-mail if you would like some more info!

Previously sold under the Yamaha brand, our seascooters have now been refreshed with new branding and a modern look. The Nautica range maintains the same exceptional quality and reliability. These are exactly the same units, same quality and robustness, same customer service. The only difference is the colours.

For safety reasons, it is important to know that although most of the  seascooters we sell are slightly positively buoyant, they cannot be used as a life saving device. Proper supervision and even life vests or inflatable sleeves are important when it comes to safety, especially when children are using the scooters.

All water scooters come with everything you need in the box. It is recommended the unit is charged before its very first use to make sure the battery is full. When giving the scooters as a present - lucky person!- the battery should be charged  and O-rings inspected/put into place so the unit can be used straightaway.

I know, I know, I know - who likes reading manuals? But seriously: just do it! It does not take long and it will improve the longevity and enjoyment you get out of these scooters. Rinsing or soaking your scooter properly after each use and charging the batteries are important when looking after these toys. Of course, the Underwater Australasia team is always happy to take you through it as well and we are only a phone call or e-mail away.

Shipping is FREE for all seacooters when shipped anywhere in Australia and most seascooters come with an action camera mount.

Let’s have a look at the different models!

Scooters for young children

There is definitely more fun to be had in the water when adding a seascooter.

The Nautica Wavemaker, the ultimate inflatable Jet Ski seascooter for pool fun!

The Nautica WaveMaker - inflatable fun for the young ones

We probably should start off with the WaveMaker. This is technically speaking not a scooter as it has a large inflatable seat with a small engine underneath and is more a ride-on. However, this one is super fun for the littlies and it is easy to supervise your kids as they zoom around in the pool and shallow waters.

When the children are young, size does matter and we would recommend the Nautica Skipper and the Nautica Navigator

These scooters are not only light enough to carry to the water they can also be handled well when moving through the water due to their smaller size and weight.

The Nautica Skipper and Navigator seascooter - excellent entry level seascooters for kids

The Nautica Skipper and Navigator - excellent entry level scooters. Adult supervision a must!

The main difference between those two scooter is that the Nautica Navigator runs at 4 km/h and has a depth rating of 10 meters. The Nautica Skipper is a tad slower at 3.2 km/h and has a depth rating of 4.5 meters. Both use the same lead-acid battery. Since the batteries are reasonably priced, many of our customers buy a spare one for more time in the water.

Although it is important to teach children to look after their belongings, we recommend an adult to be involved to make sure the cleaning and battery charging happens properly.

These days when families have their own backyard pool, the children are very confident from an early age. However, it is always important to have close supervision no matter how great their swimming skills might be!

Scooters for young adults and snorkelers

This is where the options open up more to the other sea scooter brands Underwater Australasia carries.

These Nautica torpedo shaped underwater scooters are more powerful and able to pull along more weight than the kid’s scooters mentioned above.

The NAutica Marine series: Marine 200, Marine 250, Marine 280 and Marine 300

The Nautica Marine Series has the choice of four sturdy, reliable scooters, which run on lead-acid batteries: Marine200, Marine250, Marine280 and Marine300,

The Marine 200 sits in between the kids and the teen models and can be taken down to 20 meters. This seascooter can get up to 3.2 km/h and uses the same battery as the Skipper and the Navigator. However, if you can purchase the bigger lead-acid battery the other Marine units use and extend the run time by 30 minutes.

The Marine 250 can reach 4 km/h and has a long run time of up to 2 hours. The Marine 280 has a speed of 4.5 km/h and the Marine 300 can go 4.8 km/h. Both of those units have a battery run time of up to 1.5 hour.  These scooters weigh about 8 kg and have a depth rating of 30 meters.

The Nautica Marine 500 - twin engine, compact and fast

The Nautica Marine 500 is the only twin-engine seascooter in the Nautica range.

The Nautica brand has now included a dual-thruster seascooter: the Marine 500 with a depth rating of 30 meters.
This twin-engine seascooter propels you at speeds of 5.6 km/h and has three different speeds. Its lithium-ion battery recharges in 3 hours and offers a 45 minute run time.

SUBLUE Water Scooters

Underwater Australasia also has different Sublue models that are lots of fun.

One of the latest additions to our range is the Sublue Hagul EZ. The Hagul EZ is the latest underwater scooter developed by Sublue to make it easier for anyone to use underwater scooters. With its simple, smooth design and easy operation, it is an entry model that can be used safely by children, beginners and those who are not good at swimming. This scooter has a built-in lithium battery that lasts up to 50 minutes, providing you more time to enjoy your water adventure.

Sublue Hagul EZ - Unleash Yourself!Sublue Hagul EZ - Unleash Yourself

You can switch the speed between 3.9 km/h and 5 km/h, letting you seek new thrills underwater. It is designed to be comfortable to use, light and compact, making it suitable for all ages. Great in the pool AND in the ocean.

The Sublue Tini is different in that this scooter can be bought on its own as a single engine scooter. It is - as the name indicates - compact. However, you can buy a second unit and attach the two with a dual rail kit. Both units are then operated with the one controller and - BOOM - you’ve got yourself a twin engine scooter.

When buying the two units at the same time, the dual rail kit is included! The standard battery (98Wh) that is included will give you 45 minutes run time in the water, but if you opt to buy the larger capacity battery with 158 Wh this is extended to 70 minutes.

Sublue Tini - Modular Underwater Scooter

The Sublue Tini - the single units can be connected with a dual rail to get a more powerful, dual engine water scooter

The following Sublue underwater scooters have twin engines and are more compact than the Nautica sea scooters.

SCUBA divers

The sea scooters with a depth rating of 30 meters or more are suitable for SCUBA diving as they are have a decent speed and battery life.

Just keep in mind that when you take the sea scooters on a SCUBA dive, the units have to be neutrally or slightly negatively bouyant. You really do not want to be diving and having your sea scooter floating to the surface.

The Nautica Navtech series, and the Sublue Navbow all have the option to add weights to the units. For the Sublue Whiteshark MixPro you can easily remove the float attached to the top of the unit.

The K5 unit and the LeFeet underwater scooters are negatively buoyant and do not need any additional weights.

The person who has (almost) everything!

Cayago Seabob - so much for the person who has (almost) everything!!

Seabobs are so much fun: speed, class and style. For the person who has almost everything!

Top of the range and a whole heap of fun is the Cayago Seabob. These units are the Gods of Scooters: shiny and fast, they offer an absolute thrill when in the water. Everybody who is nearby while you take one of these babies out just wants to find out what they are. You feel like an utter superhero!

The Cayago Seabobs are magnificent. Stunning machines, made in Germany. The manufacturer calls them ‘Luxury Sea Toys’.

At the moment there are three models available: F5, F5 S and the F5 SR. Again, the price indicates the speed and and running times.

The F5 SR has 7 different speed levels and runs at a top speed of 22 km/h on top of the water. It also has two built-in HD cameras and a TFT colour display showing you speed, gear, depth and water temperature and remaining battery life.

The Cayago Seabobs come in a range of colours, but don’t come cheap! A great idea for someone who has (nearly) everything. Unlike jet skis, these scooters are not difficult to use and no license is needed to drive them.

* Speed and Run Times mentioned in this article are taken from the manufacturers specs. The run times would be at the lowest possible speed.

** Underwater Australasia is a registered NDIS supplier of assistive technology

We would like to point out that we are aware there are other water jets and underwater scooter models available. Many we have tried for ourselves and just do not live up tot he standards we expect from our scooters.

Flying with your scooters

The underwater scooters range we carry at Underwater Australasia are great fun in the water, but they can’t fly. Unless… you take them on the plane!

The International Aviation Transport Association (IATA) regulations stipulate that Lithium-ion batteries should be separated from the scooter/device where possible and not be transported in your checked-in luggage, ie they have to be in your carry-on luggage. It is recommended that the contacts are isolated and they need to be declared. The Wh should not exceed 160 Wh in any case to be allowed on-board.

If the capacity of the battery is less than 100 Wh and cannot be separated from the device - as is the case for the Sublue Hagul for example - you will need to bring the scooter as carry-on luggage and make sure the on/off switch cannot accidentally be switched to ‘ON’.

The devices with lead-acid batteries will need to have the batteries disconnected or removed and the on/off switch protected from accidentally switching to ‘ON’.

If you are taking spare batteries, you are limited to the total number of batteries allowed; make sure to check this as well.

It is the responsibility of all airline passengers to ensure that they comply with the airline requirements and in the end the airline/captain has the last say.
