PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS THE ANTENNAS AND BUOY ONLY - THE POWER MODULES IS NOT AVAILABLE
What's available?
THE BOAT02 BUOY (YELLOW) - this is the buoy only and does not include the power module.
Buoy Specifications
THE ANTENNA (also described as part of the antenna/buoy assembly) isn’t a standalone power source — it’s the submerged portion of the Ocean Guardian BOAT02 shark deterrent system that emits the electric field into the water. The BOAT02 uses Shark Shield Technology, which creates a strong underwater electric field that is unpleasant to sharks’ electro-receptors (called the ampullae of Lorenzini), causing them to turn away — but it does not harm them or other marine life.
Option to have user-changeable antenna lengths for different water depths. E.g. use the longer antenna (6.8m) in deeper water to create a larger protective field and shorter antenna (2.2m) for shallow water. The 4.4m Antenna was the default size that came with the Ocean Guardian BOAT02 (previous version was called the BOAT01). It is the world’s first innovative long-range shark deterrent system designed specifically for boating.
Antenna Sizes and Options
You can choose different antenna lengths depending on how deep and wide you want the deterrent field to reach:
These lengths correspond to how far the electrodes are submerged — longer means a larger deterrent field, which creates a broader “safe zone” around the boat or swim area.
How It Works
The BOAT02 antenna functions as the electrode array that emits a pulsing electrical current into the seawater. When both electrodes are submerged, this current produces a 3-dimensional electric field that is detectable by sharks’ sensitive receptors, causing discomfort and encouraging them to stay away. Because the field is localised around the electrodes and the buoy, it has a finite range — typically several metres deep and several metres across from the deployment point.
The antenna does not include the power module itself — that’s the electronics unit that powers the field and usually ships with the full BOAT02 system. The antenna/buoy is the part that stays in the water.
Proper electrode positioning and submersion depth are essential. If electrodes are out of the water or covered, the field won’t form effectively.
The electric field created by the antenna is non-lethal and focused on puppying shark sensory receptors; it doesn’t attract sharks and has minimal effect on fish or other marine animals.
