RPELA Safety Warning
RPELA is designed to help reduce the risk of unwanted shark interactions by creating an electric deterrent field around the surfboard. While extensive testing has been carried out and great care has been taken in the development of RPELA products, sharks are wild and unpredictable animals. No shark deterrent can guarantee protection in all circumstances.
If a shark is sighted, the user should immediately exit the water whenever it is safe to do so.
RPELA generates a controlled pulsing electric field through its integrated electrodes. Accidental contact with the electrodes when the device is active may cause muscle twitching, discomfort, or involuntary spasms. Users should avoid touching the electrodes while in the water. (See FAQ: “Can I feel the electric field?”)
Individuals with certain medical conditions should not use RPELA. This includes, but is not limited to:
Always read all instructions before installation and use. Surfing in the presence of sharks carries inherent risks. RPELA provides an additional layer of deterrence but does not eliminate danger.
