The AOI UH-EM1III housing is designed to accommodate the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk III & Mk II mirrorless cameras.

A Port is required to make this housing waterproof (not included). Compatible with AOI/Olympus PEN Mount Ports & Extensions.

Essentially, underwater camera housings allow the user to take their non-waterproof cameras underwater, protecting the camera from water and pressure when at depth This is basically the same premise for the last 160 years since the first underwater photographs appeared.

The new AOI UH-EM1III underwater housing for the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk.III (Mk.II) takes it to the next level. Integrated with a new and improved optical trigger, this housing is now compatible with the Olympus RC Flash mode of the E-M1 Mk.III allows users to capitalize on one of the key features of this camera when underwater-Super FP mode. Due to the limitations of sync speed and underwater strobes in general, most photographers are stuck with shutter speeds of 1/200. With this new and improved optical trigger, photographers are now able to use Super FP Mode, TTL or Manual.

What is Super FP mode?

Super FP is a special flash mode that allows shutter speeds to be used faster than the x-sync capability of the camera-flash system.

When do we use Super FP flash mode?

When you need a wide aperture for shallow depth of field, such as when shooting macro and a bokeh effect is desired.

Or

When we are shooting fast-moving animals, the fast shutter speed will prevent motion blur due to the subject moving.

By being able to utilize these modes, photographers will no longer have to work around these limitations.

Housing Overview

The design of the new housing reflects the wants and needs of mirrorless users. By keeping the housing compact and ergonomic, it makes it easy to handle and travel. Although small, the buttons and knobs are sensibly laid out and intuitive to the user.

To ensure that everything works as it should, the housing is pre-installed with a Vacuum Analyser & Wet Detection System. Using the supplied vacuum pump to achieve the desired internal pressure, the system will continuously analyse the internal pressure. If a change is detected, the audio and visual alarms are set off to warn the user of a possible problem.

This housing is compatible with AOI & Olympus ports & extension rings for PEN mount housings. This high-quality underwater housing is lightweight and ergonomic with all the camera controls accessible and at your fingertips. It is made of polycarbonate with a depth rating of 45 meters.
