MUREX Dive Resort & Liveaboard
We are a small and friendly family-run resort in Manado, North Sulawesi that has been operating since 1987. Because we’re situated in one of the world’s most spectacular diving areas, we can offer our guests a unique and unforgettable diving experience. Murex has 20 local style rooms and bungalows all set within lush tropical gardens. We offer delicious traditional cuisine served buffet style and will cater to specific dietary needs. Fabulous day diving and snorkeling in renowned Bunaken Marine National Park, trips to pristine islands at the tip of North Sulawesi, and for the curious diver the Lembeh Strait where the smallest and strangest critters live and, it’s rumored, life on earth actually began.
Murex’s live aboard boats provide comfortable accommodations for adventurous diving excursions to many remote and exotic off the map locations. Our fixed departure live aboard dive cruises with expert crew, guides and chef are offered each week, and all our boats are available for group charters. Our most special feature is Bangka Bungalows, our secluded diving getaway, with private white sand beaches and reefs for enchanted diving that’s yours alone.
Murex also offers myriad non-diving activities. Our guests enjoy spectacular highland tours, horseback riding, guided treks in Tangkoko National Wildlife Preserve, volcano trekking, trips to traditional marketplaces and white water rafting. A very popular non-activity is doing nothing but lazing on our private secluded beaches at Murex, Bangka and Pulisan. Children are welcome at Murex and always make fast-friends and have a fun-filled time with our staffs’ children.

More than Two Fish at Bunaken and Manado
- When I first decided to visit the tropical paradise of Bunaken Marine Park and Lembeh Strait, it seemed as if nobody had heard of it. However, once I began to plan the trip I slowly heard more and more about the place. Deep dramatic walls, 30 degree water with 30 m visibility, and bizarre creatures were just some of the descriptions. My excitement grew.

- Sea Turtles can live to be 100 years old, but most don’t survive their first few days. In the wild, the tiny hatchlings typically encounter a gauntlet of predators as they hatch and make their way from beachside nests to open water, and they remain especially vulnerable those first few months of life. When nature is in balance, this attrition is a normal part of the circle of life. But when turtles become threatened by factors such as habitat loss, or predators like fish and birds, they may need a little extra help to maintain a normal population. This is where Wakatobi Dive Resort has stepped in.
