Published under the auspices of Conservation International. A compilation of over 130 dive site descriptions within the world's most bio-diverse tropical reefs system, travel information, and background essays on biodiversity, conservation, and the people of Raja Ampat. A must for adventurers planning a trip to Raja Ampat.

Widely considered earth's most bio-diverse coral reefs, Indonesia's Raja Ampat Archi-pelago contains over 540 species of hard coral and 1320 reef fish species. This incredible diversity is due mainly to Raja Ampat's unparalleled array of marine habitats. This guidebook introduces divers to Raja Ampat's premier reefs. Many of these dives sites are recent discoveries, and we strongly encourage continued exploration of this amazing 4.5 million hectares of species-rich sea. By actively working to spread diving tourism throughout the vastness of Raja Ampat, we can lessen its impact and help ensure that Raja Ampat's biodiversity remains a healthy asset for generations to come. Burt Jones and Maurine Shimlock are marine life photojournalists who specialize in discovering and reporting on remote dive destinations. Since 1992 Burt and Maurine have been exploring the Indonesian archipelago and recording images of its spectacular reefs. In 2002 they made their first trip to Raja Ampat and began working with the Indonesian branches of several NGOs, including Conservation International, to educate the world about the region's incomparable marine life and the urgent need to conserve it. Committed to marine conservation, Burt and Maurine use the art of photography to help preserve life in the sea.
