Tassie Divers to converge on Bicheno!
The 2nd Tasmanian Combined Scuba Clubs event will take place, on the Saturday
the 13th and Sunday the 14th of May, 2006. After the success of last year, it
was Ocean Divers Plus' turn to organise another fun weekend where divers from
every where get together and basically have a great and fun weekend getting
wet and talking diving, in one of arguably Australia's best dive spots.
Bicheno
again chosen because of the central location in Tasmania, the various
dives available for all levels, plus in May the vis is usually pretty good and
the days are hopefully still warmish?
We would like as many Tasmanian divers there as possible with
most the activities based out of the dive centre, with Bicheno Dive planning
to bring over some gear for us to try out and a few other surprises.
A new feature of the weekend will be a digital underwater photo shoot out,
open to all amateur photographers with two categories for best Tasmanian photo
from the last year and the best photo taken on the Saturday.
We also plan to run a raffle with dive gear up for grabs.
A fun event back this year will be the scuba Olympics, where groups from the
various clubs will test their scuba skills over a selected course with the much
heralded trophy up for grabs. Currently Ocean Divers are the holders of the
perpetual trophy with plenty of the other clubs currently training to take it
off their hands.
It will be a big weekend for Tasmanian diving, and a great chance to just
catch up with others who are just as crazy at diving in the cool waters around
our beautiful state.
A big thank you to Bruce from the Bicheno Dive centre for helping us with this
event, and to all the other diving business around Tasmania for the contributions
they have made.
